Born From a Personal Journey
GoldenMatch started in 2009 when our founder, James Whitfield, watched his 72-year-old mother struggle with loneliness after his father passed away. She tried mainstream dating apps but found them overwhelming, confusing, and filled with people half her age.
James knew there had to be a better way. He envisioned a dating platform designed specifically for mature adults — one that was easy to use, safe, and built around the values that matter most to people in the second half of life: trust, respect, shared experiences, and genuine connection.
What started as a small community of a few hundred members in the Midwest has grown into the nation's most trusted dating platform for singles over 50, with more than 2 million active members across all 50 states.
And James's mother? She met her partner, George, on GoldenMatch in 2011. They've been together ever since. 💛
